One awesome morning commute!

Just had to post this one, decided to take a long ride in the morning fog, +13° outside, short sleeve, short bibs, all alone on the roads (until I meet up with my coworker that is).
Started by going through Järvafältet, 10 km of gravel roads through the nature reserve, before heading up to barkarby and meet up with Leffe.

The bike posing by a fence in Järva, the fog lingering behind it in the fields!

From there it was the usual 12-ish km to Begshammra, before hitting the tracks that run next to Lilla Värtan, you can check the whole trip on the map below.

Saturday morning posting

Sitting here with my breakfast, checking out my runkeeper profile, and noticing a lot of weekly records, so hey, why not just blog about them, right?

So that’s it, been lots of sweet rides this week, I went alone through the Järva nature reserve, which was awesome, hit some nice speeds on the gravel roads, I had different company home, and Fridays commute with another coworker on a racer was enjoyable to, nice to get some speed up!

Here’s the GPX from that ride, the last km’s from Silverdalen and home again is a bit off, mostly since I forgot to un-pause my runkeeper, so the average pace is a bit off to (to slow).

Now it’s back to my breakfast, and resting my legs some more!

Nothing much to post about

So I’ll post about the weather, god I hate the wind we got these days, it’s insane, the commute home today was something like 12 min slower, pure hell fighting the wind.

In other news, I’m going to pick up the new bike for the kid today, a 24″ race/cyclocross bike with sti shifters and stuff, it’s going to be his 10 year birthday presents, there shall be pictures in the next post!

Numbers from my second day of commuting

[wprunkeeper activity=”170845730″]

Pretty proud of my second day to work, a little short breathed when I got to work, and the weather was no good (rain and wind against me).
Even with this I managed what for me at least feels like a solid pace and time to work, it’s about 10min quicker then some of my previous commutes, bike feels great so far, a little fine tuning on the gear changes is needed, and I’m not 100% sure the saddle is right for me, but I’m giving that a week or two before I look in to a new saddle.

Also, I’m already looking in to new tires, maybe Conti GP4 season (28mm)..

First week of April, info from Poison Bikes

Easter is over and it’s been four days of work this week!
First up the boring numbers from my week of commuting to work!
It’s all based on numbers from my recordings with runkeeper, so they are most likely not 100% accurate xD

Number of days biking to work: 4
The distance I biked this week:
133,06 km
Total climb: 1697 m
Calories Burned: 5376 kcal

All rides the shortest route to work, if you want to see the route it’s linked >here<

Now back to the good part:
I sent a mail on Friday asking about the delivery of my new bike from Poison, and this is what I got:
bikesendinginfo

I guess it’s soon time for me to write a review of the company and order process! (then later on I’ll write how I feel my bike has been)

Can it really be spring?

Well, almost spring I guess, this week has been the first week of almost no winter clothing.
Morning temps from -2°c to -0.8°c, most of the ice is gone from the roads, some roads are even cleaned of gravel!

Anyway, this morning I took a different route to work, nothing major, just sort of a right where I usually go straight ahead and take a left, ended up finding a nasty hill, lots of shadow with lots of ice and not really any gains at all.

To end the post, here is some pictures I stopped to take, of my bike:

March month in a post

New month, new adventures, but first of all, recap of March!
It’s been random weather and road conditions, the basic winter chill (all the way down to -12°c, snow and ice) to warmer weather and lots of water (dont forget the “pinch” of salt and gravel).

march2013-RK
Recap from my runkeeper page, 426km of comuting, not bad considering the weather, about 200km less then a average summer month!

Also I got my new backwheel last week, so now I dont get the “dunk-a-dunka” wibble wooble feeling when I ride, my old one moved about 1-2cm sideways and was shaped like a egg, there was also some loosness in the body aparently.

Anyway, come April with warm spring weather (hopefully), a baby any day now and in a week or two the new bike, exciting times ahead!

New wheel!

Woho, my Occano bike just got home, it now has a new black rear wheel (with a non-matching white front wheel), it’s starting to look ghetto!

Anyhow, yesterday was actually a fairly good bike day, apart from the whole back wheel moving in all directions at once and not really rolling well, a map then, for the home trip (trip from work to the LBS):

Oh and I guess it’s worth noting, this is probably one of my last week commuting on this piece of crap bike, due date for our daughter is on Tuesday, so hopefully after 10 days of daddy leave I’ll have my poison.

Duct tape, zip ties and sunny mornings

Sounds like the start of some freaky crime novel thingy, right?
Well it’s not, just the state of my bike and the weather this morning, the back wheel of my hybrid trekking bike, the occano, has been loosing spokes left and right, the rim is now untrue in all directions to.
So I ordered a new wheel, but since the weather is so frigging awesome now, I couldn’t resist to bike, right?
Solution, duct tape and zip ties, easy “fix”, just zip tie the loose spokes to some that aren’t, add a little duct tape and hope for the best, at least it’s just about two days left before my new wheel comes, and then another two weeks or so before my new bike arrives!

Anyhow, did the longer ride to work today, some icy patches, but overall pretty ok!

Commuting statistics for week 12 (18th of march – 22nd of march)

Figured, I’d add something like this to my blog now and then, statistics for my commuting this week.

Lets start with the road to work:

From home in Akalla, via Kista, Helenelund, Ullrikesdal, Bergshammra and Norra Djurgården

Number of days biking to work: 4
The distance I biked this week:
132.22km
Total climb: 1739 meters
Calories Burned: 5337

All numbers taken from Runkeeper, probably not 100% accurate, but good enough for me right now!
