Bargain bin review (Lidl stuff)

I never go to lidl, but I still did..

Well, again I gotta point towards the happymtb forum and a thread about cheap biking stuff on lidl, fair enough I thought and checked the ads for the bike stuff.

So what did I buy and how well did it work out?

Underwear, these I bought in hope that I would get less chaffing in my crotch area since biking during winter all those layers kept wrinkling, to my surprise they work, they are tight sitting, long legged and keep things in check (for now, only had them like one month), but for the price of 69 SEK (I think), I would rate this good value!

Bike jacket, in blue cause I wanted something to match my new bike a little better then my old green jacket…
Again, really cheap 149 SEK, it’s got two open pockets on the back (fits lots of things, bottles, tools, pump and tube) and one pocket with a zipper, for valuables.
The jacket is warm, dosent feel like it breaths that well and my arms got really “sticky” when wearing a short sleeve under it, it’s got a nice fit tough and for colder weather with a long sleeve dry-tech shirt under it was nice and comfy!
Only thing I miss is pockets in the front of some sort, for my phone when I use Runkeeper on my ride..

Singlet, I haven’t actually used it yet, more then wearing it inside (looking awesome as ever, since it’s maybe I tiny bit to small still… still it feels soft and comfortable, and again it was dirt cheap and if my mind is right, it was like 69 SEK.

Finally the last piece (that I could be arsed to photograph and write about, I also bought some socks, whoop whoop).
A mini pump, fits both kind of valves, got two modes, high volume and high pressure and when tested it worked like a charm, doesn’t have the biggest cylinder in the world and it takes some time to fill a tire up, but I reached 80 psi after awhile so for emergency use, perfect (also it was 49 SEK so again, cheap).

That’s it, everything worked better then expected!

Naming, not shaming and bike delivery status

I’ll start with the cute and not bike related, we now how a name for our babygirl, Saga Josefiina:
saga_josefiina_2013_04_12

Then the bike information:
Dear Sir and Madam,

We have just received a shipment order to you from POISON BIKES GMBH
To check the current status of your shipment, please click on the link below

I guess that means my bike is headed for Sweden, this is going to be awesome!

Delays, delays delays..

Random ranting, I never got a confirmation that my bike was sent on Wednesday, so I sent a mail asking, turns out its not ready, it might get ready tomorrow, guess I’ll be lucky if my bike comes next week (I need it before I start working again!)

Not a biking post per se

Our daughter got born before my new bike is delivered, everything is going according to plan!

Born Sunday 7th of April, 02:52 am
She weighed a healthy 4190 grams and was 52 cm long.

Fun thing about the day, I prepared my old bike for retirement, even if my new one comes next week first, so the old Occano is scrubbed and rubbed and almost shining!

Can it really be spring?

Well, almost spring I guess, this week has been the first week of almost no winter clothing.
Morning temps from -2°c to -0.8°c, most of the ice is gone from the roads, some roads are even cleaned of gravel!

Anyway, this morning I took a different route to work, nothing major, just sort of a right where I usually go straight ahead and take a left, ended up finding a nasty hill, lots of shadow with lots of ice and not really any gains at all.

To end the post, here is some pictures I stopped to take, of my bike:

Duct tape, zip ties and sunny mornings

Sounds like the start of some freaky crime novel thingy, right?
Well it’s not, just the state of my bike and the weather this morning, the back wheel of my hybrid trekking bike, the occano, has been loosing spokes left and right, the rim is now untrue in all directions to.
So I ordered a new wheel, but since the weather is so frigging awesome now, I couldn’t resist to bike, right?
Solution, duct tape and zip ties, easy “fix”, just zip tie the loose spokes to some that aren’t, add a little duct tape and hope for the best, at least it’s just about two days left before my new wheel comes, and then another two weeks or so before my new bike arrives!

Anyhow, did the longer ride to work today, some icy patches, but overall pretty ok!

First of hopefully many posts to come!

So, I figured I’d start something new, and experiment a little with this wordpress blog thing.

Basicly, I like to bike, I had something like 17 years without biking, before finding the passion again last year.

What happend?
Well, I got fat(ter) again, I wanted to loose weight and I got bored of the gym, so I bought a bike, from Stadium, it sucks, but at least it’s given me the joy for biking and quality stuff, there will be a post about gear and stuff soon(tm).

That’s me, the day I got my new(now old) bike June/July 2012)
